What is BoG?
The Board of Governors is the highest decision making body in the University. It is charged with three things:
- Security and support of the institution of the University of Calgary, in communication, stability, and continuity
- Take a 10,000 foot view of the university, its policies, its management, and institutional planning
- Making decisions on the financial and academic matters of the university (student admission, fees, quality of teaching)
As one of two undergrad students on the board I would be a member of the community who happens to be able to talk about the needs of students. This requires a firm knowledge of both community, the university, and of students. This is a knowledge I believe I firmly possess through my actions on and off campus (check out my bio and my platform).
